Nelson Sánchez Riverón was born in Dajabón, Dominican Republic in 1945. He holds a Master’s degree in Agricultural Technology from the Instituto Superior de Agricultura, Santiago, Dominican Republic. He graduated in 1981 from the Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra, Santiago, Dominican Republic, with a B.S.in Agricultural Engineering, majoring in agribusiness management.

 During his professional career, he has held a variety of positions within the Agricultural Extension Service Departament in the Dominican Republic.

 He is a self-taught artist. Early on, he was mentored by Manuel Hornedo, a painter and Jesuist priest.  In 1963 they both showed their paintings at a collective art exhibition at the ¨Ensueño Dajabonero¨ Cultural Club in Dajabón, Dominican Republic.

• September 1992 Collective Art Exhibition in the Dominican Workshop of Visual Arts in Manhattan, New York.

• December 1992 Collective Art Exhibition en el SOHO Art Gallery, Manhattan, New York.

• August 1993 Collective Art Exhibition in the Museum of Art of Paterson, New Jersey.

• May 1994.  Exhibition in T.C. Giordano Middle School 45, Bronx, New York.

• August 1995. Participated in the First Painting Competition for Agronomy professionals, hosted by the Agriculture Secretary of State in the Dominican Republic, where he obtained the First Place with the Canvas on Oil 30x24 “Artesanía Dominicana” (translated: “Dominican Crafts”).

• November 1996,1997 & 1999. Annual Collective Art Exhibition hosted by the Junta Agroempresaria Dominicana (JAD), in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

February 2008, Elements of Art,/Florida International  University,   ‘The invisible Child”  Exhibition at the Etra Art Gallery, Miami, Florida.
